NLOTH behind the songs

The song sort of reminds me of “Wire” from “The Unforgettable Fire”. But it was cool, after the second listen I liked it more–and I’ll probably grow to love it even more with each listen just like all the other songs when I heard them the first time. Can’t wait for this album!! Welcome back boys!! ;D
I feel its a raw song when first heard. But there’s lot of stuff going on beneath the surface. It sort of grows on you after hearing it a few times.
A smoking hot sexy number, can’t wait to hear the rest of the album! We have been waiting for soooooooooooooo long!
to be honest I was expecting a far better first single, specially after 5 years to produce it. i hope the rest of the album is way better
I don´t mean the song is bad, probably better than vertigo. I kind of have the same feeling than when The Fly was released, so that is very hopefull for the rest of the album, well see soon.
As much as I love U2, this is not a new sound. When it was hyped to be sounding different from the last album like Achtung Baby was from the Joshua Tree, I thought I was going to hear something I’ve never heard before, like with Achtung Baby. Instead, this song is the most blatant Beatles homage I’ve ever heard. (Even more so than anything Oasis has every made.) The “woot woot”‘s, the post-Beatles John Lennon delivery by Bono. It’s certainly a “well-made” song, but it’s not earth-shattering or original.
The song itself it is quite good, don’t get me wrong – if it was on the radio or tv by some other band I’d probably think it better in fact. But the fact is it is way below U2′s standards, it seems way too forced and manufactured. The way the new album has been hyped up I think we’ve all ended up expecting too much.
I’ve listened at least 15 times now and it’s growing. I love the beat and Adam’s bass line grinds your soul as usual, Edge shatters & shreds through with his classic riffs, and the lead + background vocals are flow, wail, & roll. It reminds me of 10 U2 songs in one. They say its the “Vertigo” of this album and I think I agree. (which Vertigo was the worst song on HTDAAB, in my opinion) Can’t wait to hear the rest of the tracks. I read a Dave Fanning interview and he said there are a lot of buried “gems” much like “Man and A Woman” was to HTDAAB.
