Into the hearth Volume 4 (U2 fans speaking about their relationship with a u2 song).
This week audiofreak talks about Walk On
For me it’s WALK ON. in 2001, When the ATYCLB came out, I was making big changes in my life. Getting married, moving to a new city and starting a new job. The lyrics of Walk On seemed so appropriate and so perfectly placed at the end of the live show, when you’ve just run through a wide range of emotions that come with experiencing a U2 show. I was at the Albany show that Bono mentioned in the Boston Elevation DVD. He called it a night where the crowd lifted him. That night solidified the song for me. As we sang the chorus with our hands in the air, like a gospel song, it kind of just clicked.
You’re packing a suitcase for a place none of us has been
A place that has to be believed, to be seen
I know the song meaning is different, but for me and my perspective at the time, these lyrics fit perfectly.
Home…
Hard to know what it is, if you never had one
Home…
I can’t say where it is, but I know I’m going
Home…
That’s where the hurt is…
And of course:
Leave it behind
You got to leave it behind
All that you fashion
All that you make
All that you build
All that you break
All that you measure
All that you feel
